He's a big brother now! Charlize Theron steps out with son Jackson for first time since it emerged she has adopted a little girl

He recently became a big brother - and he even has the top to prove it.

Charlize Theron and her son Jackson have been spotted for the first time since it emerged a new member has joined their family.

On Saturday news broke that the actress, who turns 40 on Friday, had adopted a little girl named August.

According to TMZ, the South African beauty took custody of the African-American tot last month, after working with with a US adoption agency for six months.

It is the superstar's second child, after she adopted three-year-old Jackson from her home country in 2012.

And the boy couldn't have looked prouder and he walked hand in hand with his mom in LA on Monday wearing a top bearing the words 'Big Brother Jackson' on the chest.

The now-mother-of-two looked her usual stylish self, with a black and white patterned see-through skirt and matching Cocobelle 'Aztec' sandals with a black tank top.

Charlize has candidly spoken about her desire to adopt since she was a child.

She previously said: 'I've always known I wanted a family. I don't think my mom could wait any more!'

Opening up about a letter she penned as a young girl, she revealed: 'It said, "Would you please take me to an orphanage, so that I can go and adopt a baby?"

'I always knew I would adopt. Always.'

Back in May, the blonde beauty admitted she was 'open' to having more children, but gave no hints she was planning on adopting again.

Charlize Theron was looking bright and beautiful, and her message was powerful.

The 40-year-old actress spoke about the effect AIDS had on her life growing up in South Africa and she's working to eradicate the dreaded disease during a visit to the Today show in New York City on Monday.

Charlize made her point clear while standing out in a long and ruffled color-paneled frock with a chic black blazer and strapping heels.

The blonde beauty looked incredibly stunning as she sat down with her attentive hosts, her short-cropped hair shining.

Charlize grew serious when discussing the disturbing statistics about HIV/AIDS and young women in her native country of South Africa, stressing that 'we've become complacent.'

'When I was growing up (in South Africa) in the late '80s and early '90s an epidemic really hit and we had little information on it,' Charlize revealed.

'I remember being a young girl growing up with this petrifying fear because people were dying and nobody knew why. Today we know why and it's completely preventable.

'And yet more young girls are dying today than 20 years ago and something is wrong with that.'

She said her program Africa Outreach Project was set up in 2007 but stressed that the fight is not to just curb the disease but to end it.

'In the western world, we've come so far. We don't see AIDS on the front page of the newspaper anymore. The problem is we've become complacent, and the problem is right now more young girls are dying.

The Prometheus star - who ended her engagement to actor-director Sean Penn in June - also adopted son Jackson in March of 2012.

In 2008 the Oscar-winning actress was named a United Nations Messenger Of Peace.

She also made an appearance on Sunday at the United Nations for a panel on Ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

Following her appearance on NBC's Today show, Charlize a snap taken on the morning show's set.

'Talking #Ctaop and the work we do to end aids for adolescents this morning on @todayshow #genendit,' Charlize wrote.
